The Hive SpiTri – A Spiritual Triathlon
We at UTO are also happy to share with you another virtual offering from our friends over at The Hive. We hope you’ll join us for this awesome event!
Why a Spiritual Triathlon?
We are in unprecedented times. Our communities, country, and planet are threatened by racism, COVID-19, and the resulting trauma that lives in our bodies. At The Hive, we are consistently looking for ways to address these issues with wellness, spirituality, and community. Our first ever SpiTri will help us tap into the deep collective well of contemplation and action to help bring metaphysical healing to our world. A donation of $40 will go towards raising funds for Black Lives Matter, COVID-19 relief efforts, and The Hive for the creation of a scholarship fund for future classes and retreats. If you’d like to participate, but are unable to due to financial hardship, please let us know by emailing us at thehiveapiary@gmail.com
What will the SpiTri entail?
Our event will take place over one powerful day:
5K Walk/Run for Black Lives Matter
Participants, adorned with race bibs, will walk in their home neighborhoods with a specially prepared guided meditation to bless our community and stand for the end of the evils of white supremacy. Those not able to physically participate in this part are encouraged to become a “prayer partner” with another participant. If you need help in identifying someone, let us know at thehiveapiary@gmail.com. As with any physical activity, please consult your physician before participating.
30 Minutes Meditation for the Connection of Humanity and the Planet
Joining together via Zoom we will join our prayers for a guided meditation of healing for the earth drawing on our connection with our mother. Participants will be encouraged to do this meditation in nature.
1 Hour Yoga Class for Restoration of the Body
Led by a 500-hour registered yoga teacher and co-author of the book, Faith with a Twist, we will join in a guided yoga practice on Zoom to ease the effects of trauma and anxiety that manifests in the body. Feel free to make any physical modifications for this part of the triathlon; the instructor will also offer some recommendations for those who need it. As with any physical activity, please consult your physician before participating.
Who?
All are invited to join this day of spiritual refreshment and activism. Participants must pre-register to receive the guided meditation and Zoom information.
Where?
We are suggesting you follow physical-distancing guidelines and complete the triathlon in/near your home. If desired and in compliance with local recommendations, you may wish to complete your 5K Walk/Run and Guided Meditation in a nearby park/natural area.
