Registration Now Open for the Scholars Conference with Diana Butler Bass, April 23-24, 2020
Registration is now open for the UTO/Bexley Seabury Theology of Gratitude scholars conference that will take place in Chicago April 23-24, and we invite you to join us for this first-of-its-kind event. The registration fee of $30 per person covers the opening reception and book signing on Thursday evening, April 23, and breakfast and lunch on Friday, April 24, during the conference. There are several hotels within easy walking distance of the Nicholas Center where the conference will take place, including the Omni Chicago, the Warwick Allerton, and AC Hotel by Marriott (just search online for hotels near the Nicholas Center).
The keynote speaker for this first-ever UTO-sponsored conference is Diana Butler Bass, author of eight books, including the bestselling Christianity for the Rest of Us. She is also a regular contributor to The Huffington Post and Sojourners and a leading voice in progressive Christianity today. She has given the subject of gratitude significant thought, as shown by her most recent book, Grateful: The Transformative Power of Giving Thanks, and she will share with conference attendees a keynote presentation based on her study of gratitude’s power to change lives. Other perspectives on gratitude will be presented by six scholars from diverse fields, along with closing remarks by the Rev. Micah Jackson, PhD, president of Bexley Seabury Seminary. Attendees are invited to join for Morning Prayer and noontime Eucharist at the Cathedral.
