July 15 Deadline for the 2024 UTO Prayer Booklet
By UTO Executive Committee
We want to invite you to take a deep breath and think for a second about the world around you. What are you thankful for about the world you see? What are you concerned about? These thoughts are a great start to a prayer. Prayer is simply a conversation between you and God and can be in gratitude for something or a request for God’s intervention. The other thing to know is that if you are thinking about something, probably someone else is, too, and your prayer can help create connection even if you never meet that person. Every three years, UTO offers a way for every Episcopalian (regardless of age, primary language, or perceived ability) to share their prayer with the whole church. Every three years, UTO prints thousands of prayer booklets to give away at General Convention and beyond, and every time we are told how impactful this small book of prayers is in the lives of Episcopalians. This year, we hope you’ll be a part of this impact.
Anyone can write and submit a prayer for the UTO prayer booklet, and it can be in any language. This is a great activity for children, who love to see their name printed in a book. This is an amazing way to share your prayers of hope, gratitude, and love with our church. No prayer is too short or too simple—if you’ve prayed it, someone else will probably want to pray it, too. Every triennium, we are blessed and inspired by the prayers that come in. I know we’ll all be blessed again by your prayers for the 2024 UTO prayer book.
Need inspiration or help? We’ve created resources to help you write your own prayer here.
Once you are ready to submit a prayer you can do so here (you can even submit your prayer anonymously).
If you’re worried about using the online form or if you have held a prayer-writing workshop and don’t want to type all the prayers into the form, you can also email your prayers (even a photo of a handwritten prayer) to Heather at hmelton@episcopalchurch.org. Be sure to include your name, parish, and diocese if you would like those included.
