The T in “the” before Episcopal Church is capitalized. This is a trademarked name.
The acronyms TEC or ECUSA should not be used in formal communications, nor should the colloquialism “815” in reference to the corporate headquarters of the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society staff offices.
The Episcopal Church, while headquartered and largely located in the U.S., is a multinational church, with dioceses in other countries. Refer to it in those ways or as the U.S.-based Episcopal Church, not as a national church.
