Why Serve 2011: Episcopalian young adults explore lay and ordained ministry opportunities at June retreat
Why Serve 2011 will be Thursday, June 2, to Monday, June 6 at the School of Theology, University of the South, Sewanee, TN.
The conference is for young adults of color, ages 18-30, from throughout the Episcopal Church. It is sponsored by the School of Theology at the University of the South, and the Episcopal Church Center offices of Asian Ministries, Black Ministries, Intercultural Ministries, Latino/Hispanic Ministries, Native American Ministries, and Young Adult and Campus Ministries.
According to Jason Sierra, Episcopal Church Young Adult and Campus Ministries Officer, âThe Why Serve conference is a safe place to learn more about how your gifts might be used at various levels of the church, either as a lay or ordained minister. For young adults and especially young adults of color, we believe it is important that they engage in this discernment with peers whose experiences both challenge and reflect their own. Our tradition is wide and this event demonstrates our commitment to helping all members fulfill their vocational call to community, to leadership, and to ministry, whatever that call may look like.â
Cost is $50 which includes meals, lodging, conference fees and ground transportation.
Registration deadline is May 1.
