The Rt. Rev. Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows elected vice president of House of Bishops

The Rt. Rev. Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis, was elected June 28 to serve as the vice president of the House of Bishops of The Episcopal Church. The election took place on the final day of the church’s 81st General Convention, taking place in Louisville, Kentucky.

The House of Bishops, along with the House of Deputies of the General Convention, is composed of all active and retired bishops of the church. It meets concurrently with the House of Deputies during General Convention and holds yearly meetings between conventions. 

The presiding officer of the House of Bishops is the presiding bishop of The Episcopal Church. The Rt. Rev. Sean Rowe was elected presiding bishop June 26 by the House of Bishops and confirmed by the House of Deputies; he will take office Nov. 1. Baskerville-Burrows’s tenure as vice president will also begin at that time.
