The Episcopal Church Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music (SCLM), has issued the following statement concerning inconsistencies between the Revised Common Lectionary and the Holy Week Liturgies of the Book of Common Prayer.

The statement was prepared during the SCLM meeting in March 2011 in Atlanta, GA.

The 2006 General Convention resolved that “the Revised Common Lectionary shall be the Lectionary of this Church, amending the Lectionary on pp. 889-921 of the Book of Common Prayer,” but did not deal with the resultant inconsistencies of pages within the Book of Common Prayer itself.

In anticipation of Holy Week 2012, the second year that the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL) is required for use in The Episcopal Church, the Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music recommends that congregations use the RCL lections during Holy Week 2012. In our report to the 77^th General Convention, the SCLM will formally propose a resolution to remove the inconsistencies between the RCL and BCP.

La Comisión Permanente de Liturgia y Música presenta una declaración sobre las incongruencias en las liturgias de la Semana Santa

La Comisión Permanente de Liturgia y Música de la Iglesia Episcopal (SCLM), ha emitido la siguiente declaración relativa a las incongruencias entre el Leccionario Común Revisado y las liturgias de la Semana Santa del Libro de Oración Común.

La Convención General de 2006 resolvió que “el Leccionario Común Revisado será el Leccionario de esta Iglesia, y modifica el Leccionario en las páginas 783-811 del Libro de Oración Común”, pero no tuvo en cuenta las incongruencias resultantes en las páginas en el Libro de Oración Común en sí mismo.

En previsión de la Semana Santa de 2012, el segundo año que el Leccionario Común Revisado (LCR) es necesario para su uso en la Iglesia Episcopal, la Comisión Permanente de Liturgia y Música recomienda que las congregaciones utilicen las lecturas del LCR durante la Semana Santa de 2012.
