At Reclaiming the Gospel of Peace: An Episcopal Gathering to Challenge the Epidemic of Violence, Episcopalians will come together to renew their commitment to the Gospel call to make peace in a world of violence. Through deep conversation, prayer, and skill-building the event will empower the participants to address violence and reclaim their role in society as workers for nonviolence and peace.

Reclaiming the Gospel of Peace is focused around four pillars: advocacy, education, liturgy, and pastoral care. These four areas are key avenues to address the culture of violence within and outside of the Church and will be woven throughout all aspects of the event including plenary time, workshops, small group conversations, and worship.

Registration dates

Registration dates and fees are:

• Early registration, through December 4: $185
• Regular registration December 4 – February 14, 2014: $205
• Late registration February 15 – March 15: $245

Space is limited; attendance at this event is capped at 250 people.

Lodging

Participants need to make their own lodging reservations as they are not part of the conference registration. A special conference rate of $109 has been secured with the Sheraton here.  Group name for the convention rate is “Reclaiming the Gospel of Peace.”

The schedule

On Wednesday, the program begins with dinner and opening plenary presentations from Bishop Eugene Sutton (Diocese of Maryland) and Bishop Ed Konieczny (Diocese of Oklahoma).

On Thursday, there will be a full day of program with two plenary sessions including a panel highlighting unique Episcopal responses to violence, intentional community conversations, workshops, worship, and an opportunity for participants to organize their own working-group/workshop sessions.

On Friday, the conference will feature worship, intentional community conversations, and workshop opportunities in the morning. In the afternoon, the Conference will visit the Oklahoma City Memorial and will receive a special tour. Dinner will be held at the cathedral of the Diocese of Oklahoma followed by Eucharist with Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori preaching.
