Dear Friends in Christ,

The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting much of our individual and corporate lives, posing a threat to the health of so many.  In such a time it is important for us to remember to care for ourselves, but not for ourselves alone. The moral primacy of Jesus’ command to love God and our neighbor must guide us in all of our decisions.

Therefore, and in this context, our choices – however complex or difficult – are to be made mindful of the public health and well-being.

Cognizant of this, the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) of The Episcopal Church has reached the following determination with regard to Churchwide/DFMS sponsored meetings and gatherings: Effective today (March 13, 2020) and continuing through May 31, 2020, all such meetings will be conducted remotely, or postponed, or canceled. Decisions regarding meetings after May 31 will be made by the ELT as the days progress. Decisions regarding scheduled ordinations and consecrations of new bishops will be made on a case by case basis, in consultation with the various dioceses.

May we be God’s blessings, and instruments of God’s love. May the words of the Apostle Paul ring loudly and true in our hearts, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God.”  (2 Cor 1:3-4)

Notificación con respecto a las reuniones patrocinadas por toda la Iglesia /DFMS

Estimados amigos en Cristo,

La pandemia COVID-19 está afectando a gran parte de nuestra vida individual y corporativa, lo que representa una amenaza para la salud de tantos.  En ese tiempo es importante que recordemos cuidar de nosotros mismos, pero no solo por nosotros mismos. La primacía moral del mandato de Jesús de amar a Dios y a nuestro prójimo debe guiarnos en todas nuestras decisiones.

Por lo tanto, y en este contexto, nuestras decisiones, por complejas o difíciles que sean, deben ser conscientes de la salud y el bienestar públicos.

Consciente de esto, el Equipo de Liderazgo Ejecutivo (ELT, por sus siglas en inglés) de la Iglesia Episcopal ha tomado la siguiente determinación con respecto a las reuniones y encuentros patrocinados por la Iglesia/DFMS: A partir de hoy (13 de marzo de 2020) y continuando hasta el 31 de mayo de 2020, todas esas reuniones se llevarán a cabo remotamente, o se postergarán o cancelarán. Las decisiones relativas a las reuniones después del 31 de mayo serán tomadas por el ELT a medida que avancen los días. Las decisiones relativas a las ordenaciones programadas y las consagraciones de nuevos obispos se tomarán caso por caso, en consulta con las diversas diócesis.

Que seamos la bendición de Dios e instrumentos del amor de Dios. Que las palabras del apóstol Pablo resuenen en voz alta y verdadera en nuestros corazones: “Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Padre de misericordias y Dios de toda consolación, el cual nos consuela en toda tribulación nuestra, para que nosotros podamos consolar a los que están en cualquier aflicción con el consuelo con que nosotros mismos somos consolados por Dios.”  (2 Co 1:3-4)
