Bishops of The Episcopal Church will hold a hybrid gathering Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During the gathering, bishops will provide input to Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe about his initiative to realign the church’s structures and mission strategy to support ministry in dioceses.
Journalists are invited to attend a media briefing following the conclusion of the gathering. Please email info@episcopalchurch.org by 5 p.m. ET Dec. 3 to receive sign-on information.
The briefing—scheduled for 4:15 p.m. Central Time—will include comments from Bishop Rowe; Bishop Craig Loya of the Episcopal Church in Minnesota; and Bishop Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows of the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis and vice president of the House of Bishops.
The House of Bishops and the House of Deputies comprise the governing body—the General Convention—of The Episcopal Church. These groups meet and act separately, and both must concur to adopt legislation. General Convention meets every three years, and the House of Bishops generally meets twice a year between conventions in a non-legislative capacity.
