The 2021-2022 Episcopal Service Corps (ESC) service year application period is open; find the discernment quiz and application here.
Episcopal Service Corps is a network of young adults ages 21-32 serving through locally organized intentional communities that are dedicated to:
- Serving others in solidarity
- Promoting justice locally
- Deepening spiritual awareness
- Discerning vocation
- Living in community
“This is a remarkable ministry and a remarkable opportunity,” said Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Michael Curry, “Making it possible for young adults to actually make a positive and profound difference in the lives of others and in the life of our society . . . Episcopal Service Corps affiliates throughout the country have continued to work and serve, even in this time of pandemic, even when it is most difficult . . . We need more people to become a part of that ministry, that work, around the country, and I assure you, it is labor that is well served.”

“ESC is so much more than a one-year deep dive into service work. It is time that a young adult sets aside to refine the skills and experiences necessary for future employment and to develop the intentional and reflective practices that will enable a lifetime of spiritual growth, community orientation, and leadership,” said Wendy Johnson, ESC Coordinator. “Through Episcopal Service Corps, young adults have an opportunity to bring hope, healing, and help to their local communities. As our nation continues to grapple with COVID-19 and its aftereffects, the ministry of our Corps members is more vital than ever.”
Everyone serving through ESC commits to a household Rule of Life and regular spiritual direction, discernment, and community practices. Corps members receive housing, health insurance, and small stipends to cover living expenses, transportation and food.
