The website of the Episcopal Church – www.episcopalchurch.org – has been honored with the prestigious 2012 WebAward for Outstanding Achievement in Web Development in the Faith-based Category by the Web Marketing Association.

“This is a welcome validation of our small team's work,” noted Anne Rudig, Director of Communication. "Creating a meaningful experience for both new and frequent visitors to the site was the goal. I think this award recognizes achievement of that goal."

The website was evaluated against seven criteria: design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copywriting, and ease of use. In particular, the award noted: "Videos throughout the site provide an excellent user interactivity opportunity.”

Working with Duo Consulting and Atmosphere Design of Kansas City, Missouri, the Office of Communication launched the new website on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, utilizing Drupal open-source technologies.

“The launching of the website this past December was the result a more than a year of careful, thoughtful and, at times "different" thinking, about how the Church should be represented on the web,” noted Barry Merer, Episcopal Church  Manager of  Web and Social Media Services. “The Church itself, its beliefs, and the ministry and work it does are the stars of this project. “
