Episcopal Church tops $1M in creation care grant funding with 8 new recipients

Reaching a $1 million funding milestone, The Episcopal Church’s Task Force on the Care of Creation and Environmental Racism recently awarded grants to eight new recipients, approved by the Executive Council in November.

Since 2017, more than $1 million in grant funding has been awarded to 105 creation care projects that, among other goals, seek to address climate change, environmental degradation, and the impacts of environmental racism.

During this funding cycle, grants totaling $100,000 were awarded for the following projects:

  • Environmental Racism: Looking through your own lens: $9,000
    Memorial Episcopal Church, Episcopal Diocese of Maryland
  • Ivy City Resurrection: $16,000
    Crummell-Cooper Chapter (D.C.) Union of Black Episcopalians, Episcopal Diocese of Washington
  • Interconnected Waterways: Interconnected Lives: $10,000
    St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church and Benison Farm, Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida
  • The Episcopal Grasslands Network: $18,000
    Episcopal Diocese of Kansas
  • Cooling Our Neighborhood: $12,000
    Saint Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church, Episcopal Diocese of Arizona
  • Huli: Diocesan Creation Justice Initiative: $15,000
    Creation Care Task Force, Episcopal Diocese of Hawaii
  • Indigenous Land Tending Event: $5,000
    Ascension School Camp and Conference Center, Episcopal Diocese of Eastern Oregon
  • St. Stephen’s Community Nutrition Project: $15,000
    St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church of Hollywood, Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles
