Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael Curry has issued a video statement concerning the actions of the Anglican Primates at the meeting in Canterbury, England.

The following is the text of the Presiding Bishop’s statement:

Before I say a word about our gathering here at the Primates Meeting, I just want to say a word of thank you to you for all of your prayers: your prayers for this meeting, your prayers for me personally, both here and in my earlier sickness. We are well, and God is God, and I thank you.

 Let me say a word about the meeting.

This is not the outcome we expected, and while we are disappointed, it’s important to remember that the Anglican Communion is really not a matter of structure and organization. The Anglican Communion is a network of relationships that have been built on mission partnerships; relationships that are grounded in a common faith; relationships in companion diocese relationships; relationships with parish to parish across the world; relationships that are profoundly committed to serving and following the way of Jesus of Nazareth by helping the poorest of the poor, and helping this world to be a place where no child goes to bed hungry ever. That’s what the Anglican Communion is, and that Communion continues and moves forward.

This has been a disappointing time for many, and there will be heartache and pain for many, but it’s important to remember that we are still part of the Anglican Communion. We are the Episcopal Church, and we are part of the Jesus Movement, and that Movement goes on, and our work goes on. And the truth is, it may be part of our vocation to help the Communion and to help many others to grow in a direction where we can realize and live the love that God has for all of us, and we can one day be a Church and a Communion where all of God’s children are fully welcomed, where this is truly a house of prayer for all people. And maybe it’s a part of our vocation to help that to happen. And so we must claim that high calling; claim the high calling of love and faith; love even for those with whom we disagree, and then continue, and that we will do, and we will do it together.

We are part of the Jesus Movement, and the cause of God’s love in this world can never stop and will never be defeated.

Michael Curry, Obispo Presidente y Primado de la Iglesia Episcopal, ha emitido una declaración en video acerca de las acciones tomadas por los Primados Anglicanos en la reunión de Canterbury, Inglaterra.

Lo que sigue es el texto de la declaración del Obispo Presidente:

Antes de escribir aquí una palabra sobre nuestra reunión en la Reunión de los Primados, solamente quiero enviarles a ustedes una palabra de agradecimiento por todas sus oraciones: sus oraciones por esta reunión, y por mí personalmente, tanto aquí como en mi anterior enfermedad. Estamos bien, y Dios es Dios, y les doy las gracias.

Permítanme decir una palabra sobre la reunión.

Este no es el resultado que esperábamos, y aunque estamos decepcionados, es importante recordar que la Comunión Anglicana no es realmente una cuestión de estructura y de organización. La Comunión Anglicana es una red de relaciones que se ha construido en asociaciones de misión; relaciones que se basan en una fe común; relaciones en relaciones de diócesis compañeras; relaciones de parroquia a parroquia en todo el mundo; relaciones que están profundamente comprometidas a servir y a seguir el camino de Jesús de Nazaret, ayudando a los más pobres de entre los pobres, y ayudando a que este mundo sea un lugar donde ningún niño nunca vaya a la cama con hambre. Eso es lo que es la Comunión Anglicana, y esa Comunión continúa y se sigue hacia adelante.

Para muchos este ha sido un momento decepcionante, y para muchos habrá angustia y dolor, pero es importante recordar que seguimos formando parte de la Comunión Anglicana. Somos la Iglesia Episcopal, y formamos parte del Movimiento de Jesús, y ese Movimiento continúa, y nuestro trabajo sigue adelante. Y la verdad es que puede ser parte de nuestra vocación el ayudar a la Comunión y ayudar a muchos otros a que crezcan en una dirección en la que podamos realizar y vivir el amor que Dios nos tiene, y un día podamos ser una Iglesia y una Comunión en la que todos los hijos de Dios sean plenamente aceptados, donde esta sea verdaderamente una casa de oración para todos los pueblos. Y puede que forme parte de nuestra vocación el ayudar a que eso suceda. Y por ello, debemos reclamar esa alta vocación; reclamar la noble vocación de amor y de fe; amor incluso hacia aquellos con los que no estamos de acuerdo, y luego continuar, y eso es lo que vamos a hacer, y lo haremos juntos.

Formamos parte del Movimiento de Jesús, y la causa del amor de Dios en este mundo nunca se puede parar y jamás será vencida.

Dios le ama. Dios le bendiga. Y usted conserve la fe. Y seguimos adelante.
