Episcopal Church mission leadership positions announced

Bishop Stacy Sauls, Episcopal Church Chief Operating Officer, has announced three staff appointments in mission leadership positions.

Canon Sam McDonald has been named Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Director of Mission. Antoinette Daniels has been named Associate Director of Mission for Administration. The Rev. Margaret Rose has been named Associate Director of Mission for Program.

The positions are effective September 1.

“These appointments are intended to help all of us work most creatively as we seek to better serve the Church,” Sauls said. “I look forward to working closely with Sam, Toni and Margaret as we focus on the mission work for The Episcopal Church.”

As Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Director of Mission, McDonald will serve as assistant to Sauls, oversee the Church's mission programs, and manage the work of the mission and mission funding, human resources, IT and building service departments of the Episcopal Church. Most recently, McDonald served as Canon to the Ordinary in the Diocese of Lexington, implementing the bishop’s vision and mission priorities. Prior to that, he worked with youth in churches in the Diocese of Ohio, and has been elected a General Convention Deputy since 2003. He was a member of the Forward Movement Publications Advisory Board.

As Associate Director of Mission for Administration, Daniels will work with the Director of Mission with a focus on budget, grants, financial reporting, travel and overseeing the scholarship programs and other similar projects.

As Associate Director of Mission for Program, Rose will work with the Director of Mission and team leaders in implementing the mission programs of the Episcopal Church and providing the mission team leaders with clear and consistent leadership.

Daniels and Rose previously served as Episcopal Church Co-Directors of Mission. “I am thankful for these two gifted staff members,” Sauls said. “The entire Church owes its thanks to Toni and Margaret, who have worked diligently to lead the Mission Department over the last two years.”
