Director of Operations for Episcopal Migration Ministries
The Episcopal Church retitled Demetrio Alvero as Director of Operations for the refugee resettlement area of Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM), reporting directly to the Canon to the Presiding Bishop for Ministry Beyond The Episcopal Church, The Rev. Canon Charles Robertson.
“This underscores the continuing administration of the refugee resettlement program, while strengthening formulation and implementation of EMM’s mission and vision in line with mandates from the governing bodies of The Episcopal Church,” said Canon Robertson. “The title reflects the ongoing work that Demetrio has been doing in the administration of the program.”
Alvero began his career with EMM in 2005 as grants and compliance manager and was appointed deputy director in 2010. His knowledge and experience in the areas of refugee and migration matters spans over 40 years in the United States and abroad, working primarily in Kenya, Guatemala, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Costa Rica.
Episcopal Migration Ministries is one of the nine national agencies responsible for resettling refugees in the United States in partnership with the government. Episcopal Migration Ministries currently has 14 affiliates in 12 Episcopal dioceses.
