Diocese of Southwest Florida notified of successful canonical consent process for next bishop
The Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida has received notification from Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael B. Curry that Bishop-elect Douglas F. Scharf has received the required majority of consents in the canonical consent process detailed in Canon III.11.3. The consents received have been certified by the Rev. Canon Michael Barlowe, Registrar of the General Convention.
In giving consent to his ordination and consecration, standing committees and bishops exercising jurisdiction in The Episcopal Church attest to knowing of “no impediment on account of which” Bishop-elect Scharf ought not to be ordained as bishop, and that his election was conducted in accordance with the canons.
Scharf was elected bishop coadjutor on April 2. His consecration and ordination service is scheduled for Sept. 24.

La Diócesis Episcopal de Florida Sudoccidental recibió la notificación del Obispo Presidente y Primado Michael B. Curry que el Obispo electo Douglas F. Scharf no deba ser ordenado como obispo y que su elección se realizó de conformidad con los cánones.
Scharf fue elegido obispo coadjutor el 2 de abril. Su servicio de consagración y ordenación será el 24 de septiembre.
