The Episcopal Diocese of Olympia has received notification from Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael B. Curry that a majority of both the various diocesan standing committees and the bishops exercising jurisdiction in The Episcopal Church have consented to the reception of the Most Rev. Melissa Skelton as a bishop of The Episcopal Church—and to her appointment as bishop provisional for the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia, per Canon III.10.5.

The consents received have been certified by the Rev. Canon Michael Barlowe, registrar of the General Convention.

Skelton is a retired archbishop in the Anglican Church in Canada. She serves in the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia as assisting bishop.
