A statement from the Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop
Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori has noted the following on the announcement that Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams is stepping down.
“I am grateful for Rowan Williams’ service as Archbishop of Canterbury during an exceedingly challenging season. We can all give thanks for his erudition and persistence in seeking reconciliation across a rapidly changing Anglican Communion. His leadership of that reconciling work through Indaba and Ubuntu is bearing remarkable fruit, and I believe this will be his most important legacy. I give thanks that his spiritual and intellectual gifts will continue to bless the larger world, albeit from a different vantage point. May the coming months bring well-deserved peace to him and his family, and may we join in blessing his ministry. ‘Well done, good and faithful servant!’”

La Obispa Presidente de la Iglesia Episcopal Katharine Jefferts Schori ha comentado lo siguiente ante el anuncio de que el arzobispo de Canterbury, Rowan Williams dejará el cargo.
“Estoy muy agradecida por el servicio de Rowan Williams como arzobispo de Canterbury durante una temporada sumamente difícil. Todos debemos dar gracias por su erudición y persistencia en la búsqueda de reconciliación a través de una Comunión Anglicana rápidamente en cambio. Su liderazgo en esa obra reconciliadora mediante el Indaba y el Ubuntu está dando frutos notables, y creo que este será su legado más importante. Doy gracias de que sus dones espirituales e intelectuales sigan bendiciendo a todo el mundo, aunque desde un punto de vista diferente. L’Évêque Primat de l’Église Épiscopale, Katharine Jefferts-Schori, a fait une déclaration suite à l’annonce que l’Archevêque de Cantorbéry prend sa retraite.
Je rends grâce pour le service de Rowan Williams en tant qu’Archevêque de Cantorbéry durant une saison extrêmement difficile. Nous devons tous être reconnaissants pour son érudition, et sa persévérance en cherchant la réconciliation à travers une Communion anglicane qui change rapidement. Sa dirigeance de ce travail réconciliant par l’Indaba et Ubuntu porte un fruit remarquable, et je crois que ceci sera son héritage le plus important. Je rends grâce aussi que ses dons spirituels et intellectuels continueront d’être une bénédiction pour le monde entier, quoique d’une perspective différente. Que les mois qui viennent apporte une paix bien méritée à l’Archevêque et sa famille, et joignons-nous tous en lui bénissant son apostolat, “Bien fait, bon et fidèle serviteur!”
