United Thank Offering

The Spanish Reformed Episcopal Church, also translated as the Reformed Episcopal Church of Spain, or IERE (Iglesia Española Reformada Episcopal) is the Church of the Anglican Communion in Spain and home to many UTO grant sites. In 2015, UTO awarded a grant of $60,000 to purchase a building in Pontevedra to open the first Anglican presence on the Camino in Spain. This was an important project not only for the Church in Spain, but for the many Episcopalians who come to Spain to walk the Camino each year. The Pilgrim’s Anglican Center is in Pontevedra, Galicia, on the Portuguese Way, located just 42 miles south of Santiago de Compostela. The Portuguese Way begins in the city of Lisbon; it’s 634 kilometers long and is the second most popular Camino in terms of the number of pilgrims. In 2015, 43,149 pilgrims on the Portuguese Way registered in the Pilgrim’s Anglican Center office.

We opened our doors in 2016 to welcome pilgrims from Spain and abroad. We wish to extend a warm invitation to pilgrims from The Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion to visit us. Whether you peregrinate (walk as a pilgrim) alone or with a group, you will enjoy our hospitality. The center has room for up to 50 people. You are welcome to host liturgical services, meet to plan the next phase of the Camino, get together for a meal, or simply join us for a cup of coffee and some good conversation. We would love to listen to your journey experiences. We are also available to celebrate religious services in the Anglican tradition in Spanish and English.
