Hope, Expectation

Advent Reflections

Advent is a season of hope: for the coming of the Christ Child, for a light in dark days, for peace that passes all understanding. It is a time to remember the longing of the Jews for a Messiah    and the lineage and events leading to the birth of Jesus. Christian hope calls us to live with confidence in newness and fullness of life and to await the coming of Christ in glory and the completion of God’s purpose for the world.

“We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labor pains until now; and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. For in hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what is seen?” ~ Romans 8:22-24
