On behalf of the Episcopal Church, let me express my sense that with the death of Coretta Scott King our nation has lost a tireless witness for racial equality and justice.
In the wake of her husband’s assassination, Coretta Scott King, with immense dignity and grace, helped to lead the nation in healing while at the same time passionately calling the world’s attention to fulfilling a vision of justice and reconciliation for all.
May we honor her life by taking up the ongoing work of reconciliation to which she and Dr. King were so deeply committed.
“Give rest, O Christ, to your servant Coretta Scott King with your saints, where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting.”
