"We are blessed by God in so many ways," reflects Slocumb, director of member services for Episcopal Camps and Conference Centers. "Our centers are beautiful and their staffs are extremely hospitable."
He notes that he expected the three-month 10,000-mile tour to be a lot of work, but would not trade any of it.
Seeing the ministry of Episcopal summer camps in so many places, and hearing the stories of how people were formed as Christians at camp growing up "was a major positive," he adds.
Next Summer, Slocumb plans on visiting 25 more centers in Provinces III and IV, as well as some in Province VII. "And I'm going to take a break from all the driving in the middle," he says, "and fly to the General Convention in Anaheim."
