Hispanic ministry course draws enrollment from eight dioceses

Fifteen persons from eight dioceses coast to coast recently completed an intensive course in Hispanic ministry at the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest.

Taught by the Rev. Jaime Case, executive director of Province VII's Center for Hispanic Ministry, the week-long course covered the Latino/Hispanic in the United States, popular religious traditions, the church year celebrations, pastoral care and Christian education. Other topics covered included cultural engagement, the why of Hispanic Episcopal mission, traditions of funding, using demographics, and values, authority and culture.

Clergy and lay persons came from the dioceses of South Carolina, San Diego, West Missouri, Alabama, Rio Grande, Texas, Oklahoma and Northwest Texas.
