Donald Keeney named director of Booher Library at Seminary of the Southwest

Dr. Donald E. Keeney has joined the community of the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest, in Austin, Texas, as director of its Booher Library.

Keeney, proficient in Koine Greek, biblical Hebrew, German and French, comes to the seminary after being director of libraries in New York City, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Kansas City, Kansas. With 17 years experience in academic libraries, Keeney was most recently interim director of the Curry Library at William Jewell College, in Liberty, Missouri.

Keeney earned a bachelor's degree in biblical studies and a master's in theological studies from Wheaton College, a master's in divinity and a doctorate in New Testament degrees from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a master of science in library service from Columbia University.

Experienced with the use of electronic technology and setting up online library systems, he is the author of numerous books and electronic material reviews for the "Clergy Journal" publication -- a work shared with his wife Rachel, an editor. He has also written articles and reviews for biblical and librarian journals.

The Booher Library collections at the Seminary of the Southwest exceed 150,000 volumes. The library offers numerous online electronic resources and databases including a LUSTRE webpage with a wealth of informational links.
