Mutual Responsibility and Interdependence in the Body of Christ (MRI)
This manifesto was issued by the Pan Anglican Congress in Aug. 13-23, 1963, in Toronto, Canada. It pointed to three central truths: 1) the church's mission is to respond to the living God; 2) we are united in Christ; 3) it is time to find a new level of expression and corporate obedience. The manifesto was a call to mission which sought training for lay and clergy leadership, construction of church facilities throughout the world, and improved communications among Anglicans throughout the world. The manifesto also sought the funding to realize these goals. The authors felt that their call was radical and nothing less than “asking (for) the rebirth of the Anglican Communion.”
