Meet Bruce: A Young Episcopalian Embarking on a Global Journey 🌍✈️ (YASC)

During orientation, we asked new members of the Young Adult Service Corps to reflect on the concept of ‘home’ as they’re ready to immerse themselves in a new community abroad.

In this video, we meet Bruce Reed, a passionate young Episcopalian about to embark on an exciting adventure abroad with the Young Adult Service Corps (YASC) program of The Episcopal Church. Bruce is being sent by the Episcopal Diocese of The Rio Grande. He is heading to Christ Church in Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirates to immerse himself in a new community, explore his faith, and serve as an authentic partner in a vibrant and diverse setting.

When we asked Bruce what the word “home’ meant to him, his answer was short but heartfelt and powerful:

“Home for me is good people, good food and good music. If I can find a decent plate of barbecue, I’ll be home anywhere.”

Bruce also hopes this experience will help him gain clarity on his call and his future in the Church. Watch the full introduction interview below:
