The Rt. Rev. Philip Alan Smith, seventh bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire, died Oct. 10 in Alexandria, Virginia, following a brief illness. He was 90.

This year in addition to blessing animals at all of our services on the weekend of St. Francis Day, we added an outdoor blessing on the State House Lawn here in Concord, NH. With the Rev. Kate Atkinson of St. Paul's and the Rev. Jason Wells of Grace Church, East Concord providing blessings, we were fortunate to see many beautiful examples of the glory and diversity of creation. Here, the Rev. Kate Atkinson blesses Moonbeam and Starlight, two Nubian goats.
