Awakening the Spirit, an Episcopal Revival in Western Missouri

June 1, 2017
Evangelism Initiatives

The second Episcopal Revival, Awakening the Spirit in Western Missouri was held on May 5, 6, and 7, 2017. The revival brought the message of the Jesus Movement into the public square with large-scale worship events held at Kansas City’s Power and Light Districts and Springfield’s Hammond’s Field. Over the weekend, tens of thousands of people experienced the revival in person and online through facebook live.

Bishop Martin Field and his incredible team were creative, enthusiastic and generous hosts. Together with members of the Presiding Bishop’s staff, the people of the Diocese of West Missouri put together an event that re-envigorated the spirit for Episcopalians from the Diocese and neighboring dioceses, including Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Oklahoma, and invited the public to share the good news.

Several portions of the revival were livestreamed on facebook, and nearly 100,000 people witnessed the revival through the Episcopal Church’s facebook page. Social media was an important part of the Awakening gathering and Episcopal News Service has an archive of the social media aggregator available here.
