The Society for the Increase of Ministry was founded in 1857 as the general fund supporting theological education in the Episcopal Church. Today SIM is dedicated to transforming the leadership of our denomination through scholarships and relationships in three focus areas:
- Stabilizing residential formation through a campaign to close the financial gap that exists between the cost of theological education and the level of funding currently available from Episcopal seminaries and dioceses.
- Culturally diversifying the ordained leadership of the Episcopal Church by leveraging scholarships to recruit a more culturally diverse pool of seminarians.
- Strengthening small congregations by consolidating small existing funds currently dispersed throughout the church and deploying these strategically to educate ordained and lay leaders called to bi-vocational and small church ministries.
