The Episcopal Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Anglican Church of Canada, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada are developing joint devotionals for 2021 focused on the issue of violence against women, including missing and murdered Indigenous women.

The devotionals will coincide with the United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence in November/December, as well as Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October in the U.S. and November in Canada). This year is also the 30th anniversary of the Global 16 Days Campaign, which is coordinated each year by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership.

The Magnificat (Luke 1:46 – 55) will serve as this year’s guiding text for the devotionals. Churches Beyond Borders will publish 16 devotions, with each head of communion offering one, and with three others written by people from member churches.
