Church Planting and Redevelopment Second Tuesdays: September 2024

September 10 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

We invite you to join us during our monthly, online connection points. On “Second Tuesdays,” we invite a conversation partner to explore topics related to new ministry, church planting and/or redevelopment. On “Third Thursdays” we host a ProAction Cafe, designed to help leaders clarify their idea and refine action steps.

Tuesday, September 10: “Digital Considerations for Building Community… in the Post-Social Era” — A conversation with the Rev. Kyle Oliver

2 p.m. Eastern (1 p.m. Central, 12 p.m. Mountain, 11 a.m. Pacific)

Almost all church leaders are using some kind of digital content and practices of engagement to build our faith communities and love our neighbors. What does the wider landscape look like, and what are the challenges and new possibilities that are being opened to us in this ever-changing context, particularly in terms of starting new faith communities and revitalizing existing ones?

This month our conversation partner is the Rev. Kyle Oliver. Kyle is an Episcopal priest; doctoral alum in educational media at Teachers College (TC), Columbia University; and director of communications at Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP). Previously he was head of learning media at Learning Forte and digital missioner at Virginia Theological Seminary. He teaches Christian formation and participatory mission practices at CDSP and digital media studies at Princeton Theological Seminary. He is also a visiting scholar at TC’s Digital Futures Institute.
