A Monthly Gathering of Racial Justice Leaders
June 5 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
On the first Wednesday of each month, racial justice leaders and practitioners from dioceses throughout The Episcopal Church gather to discuss pressing issues, exchange best practices, and illuminate the diverse ministries making an impact across our church. This monthly gathering is designed to be a sanctuary for ideas, strategies, and mutual support. Our next meeting will be June 5, 2024.
This month’s speaker is the Rev. Guy Hewitt, director of the Church of England’s Racial Justice Directorate. Hewitt is a Barbadian British Anglican priest, racial justice advocate, and specialist in social policy and development.
Hewitt is the inaugural director of racial justice in the Church of England. Ordained 20 years ago, he served primarily as a self-supporting minister alongside his public service career, which included charity, nongovernmental organization, academic, intergovernmental, and diplomatic roles. A former ambassador in the U.K., he is an honorary Senior Fellow of the University College of London and a Newbigin Fellow for Faith, Peace, and Justice. With African, Caribbean and Asian heritages, he previously served as a priest in the Dioceses of Southwark, London, Southeast Florida, and Barbados.
This gathering is more than just a meeting; it is a beacon of hope and solidarity. Together, let us harness our collective strength and wisdom.
