Episcopal Dioceses and Moravian Provinces
Prepared by Richard Mammana for the Episcopal Church Office of Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations, May 2017, updated March 2022.
The Episcopal Church consists of nine provinces, subdivided into 119 dioceses in 16 countries. Ninety-nine of the dioceses are domestic to the United States. The Moravian Church in the contiguous 48 states is organized into a Northern Province and a Southern Province, which are further divided into districts in the Northern Province. The churches entered a full communion relationship in 2010. This agreement does not apply to the Moravian Province of Alaska, and it does not apply to Moravian provinces in the non-domestic dioceses of the Episcopal Church.
The geographical boundaries of these provinces, dioceses, and districts do not overlap precisely, but this chart provides information about approximate equivalents in 2017 for dioceses of the Episcopal Church and Moravian ministry organization.
