Evento de Jóvenes Episcopales
Evento de Jóvenes Episcopales (EJE) was launched in 2019 in Panamá City, Panamá, at Cuidad del Saber. All seven dioceses in Province IX helped plan the event and participated with volunteers and guests from the Anglican Provinces of Brazil, IARCA, and Mexico. Episcopal youth ages 16-26 and their adult mentors—will be held the week of July of 2024, at a location to be determined.
Evento de Jóvenes Episcopales (EJE) finds its roots in the ongoing Episcopal Youth Event, which was developed in response to the mandate by the General Convention of The Episcopal Church through resolution #1982-D079 so “that the energy of the youth of the Episcopal Church can continue to be utilized in active ministry as members of the Body of Christ.” At the 2018 EYE it became clear to leadership that changes in immigration laws as well as language, finances, and context were barriers preventing most Province IX youth from participating in this event. In order to continue to fully live into the mandate from General Convention, an event by and for the dioceses in and around Province IX needed to be developed as a Spanish language and culturally Latin American event.
EJE is done in partnership between three Departments of The Episcopal Church – Faith Formation, Ethnic Ministries, and Global Partnerships, the seven dioceses of Province IX, and our Anglican partners in the Latin American region.
Applications to serve on the Evento de Jóvenes Episcopales Planning Team will launch soon!
