Rite I:
Almighty and Most Merciful God, give to thy Church that peace which the world cannot give, and grant that those who have been divided on earth may be reconciled in heaven, and share together in the vision of thy glory; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Rite II:

First Lesson: 2 Corinthians 4:7–12

⁷ But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us. ⁸ We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; ⁹ persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; ¹⁰ always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible in our bodies. ¹¹ For while we live, we are always being given up to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus may be made visible in our mortal flesh. ¹² So death is at work in us, but life in you.

Psalm: Psalm 51:10–17

¹⁰ Hide your face from my sins *
       and blot out all my iniquities.
¹¹ Create in me a clean heart, O God, *
       and renew a right spirit within me.
¹² Cast me not away from your presence *
       and take not your holy Spirit from me.
¹³ Give me the joy of your saving help again *
       and sustain me with your bountiful Spirit.
¹⁴ I shall teach your ways to the wicked, *
       and sinners shall return to you.
¹⁵ Deliver me from death, O God, *
       and my tongue shall sing of your righteousness,

Gospel: Matthew 7:1–6

⁷‘Do not judge, so that you may not be judged. ²For with the judgement you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. ³Why do you see the speck in your neighbour’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? ⁴Or how can you say to your neighbour, “Let me take the speck out of your eye”, while the log is in your own eye? ⁵You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbour’s eye.

⁶‘Do not give what is holy to dogs; and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under foot and turn and maul you.
