The 2020 Episcopal Youth Event (EYE20), scheduled to be held at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD), July 7-11, 2020, has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is deeply disappointing for many, and particularly for the 18 youth who have been called to serve on the planning team, many of whom are seniors”, said Bronwyn Clark Skov, Officer for Youth Ministries. “We are actively working to reschedule, with special consideration for the current senior class and will provide updates as soon as we can.”

All registered delegations and bishops have been contacted and arrangements are being made to refund deposits.

The Department of Faith Formation, which organizes the Episcopal Youth Event, hopes to reschedule the gathering for 2021.

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry offered the following message, “I know that the postponement of EYE is a real disappointment for so many of our young people, especially for graduating seniors. In this time of COVID-19 pandemic, young and old alike are being called upon to make sacrifices for the good and well-being of others, as well as for our own good. Those who have changed the world and human life for the good have always been those willing to make some kind of sacrifice for a higher purpose. I am writing this during Holy Week when Jesus was willing to sacrifice his life if necessary to witness to God’s way of love as the way of life for us all. As disappointing as postponing EYE is, please know that your sacrifice is one of many sacrifices being made by so many that are helping to save lives. For that, I thank you, and thank God for you! God love you. God bless you. And may God hold us all, the entire human family, in those almighty hands of love.”

Evento de la Juventud Episcopal 2020 pospuesto debido al COVID-19

El 2020 Episcopal Youth Event (EYE20), programado para realizarse en la Universidad de Maryland, College Park (UMD), del 7 al 11 de julio de 2020, se ha pospuesto debido a la pandemia del COVID-19.

“Esto es profundamente decepcionante para muchos, y particularmente para los 18 jóvenes que han sido llamados a formar parte del equipo de planificación, muchos de los cuales son adultos mayores”, dijo Bronwyn Clark Skov, Oficial de los Ministerios de la Juventud. “Estamos trabajando activamente para reprogramar, con especial consideración para la clase senior actual y proporcionaremos actualizaciones tan pronto como podamos”.

Se ha contactado a todas las delegaciones y obispos inscritos y se están haciendo arreglos para reembolsar los depósitos.

El Departamento de Formación de Fe, que organiza el Episcopal Youth Event, espera reprogramar la reunión para 2021.
 
El Obispo Presidente Michael Curry ofreció el siguiente mensaje: “Sé que el aplazamiento de EYE es una verdadera decepción para muchos de nuestros jóvenes, especialmente para los graduados de último año. En esta época de la pandemia del COVID-19, tanto jóvenes como mayores están llamados a hacer sacrificios por el bien y el bienestar de los demás, así como por nuestro propio bien. Aquellos que han cambiado el mundo y la vida humana para bien siempre han sido los dispuestos a hacer algún tipo de sacrificio para un propósito superior. Escribo esto durante la Semana Santa, cuando Jesús estaba dispuesto a sacrificar su vida si fuera necesario para dar testimonio de la forma de amor de Dios como la forma de vida para todos nosotros. Tan decepcionante como es posponer EYE, por favor sepa que su sacrificio es uno de los muchos sacrificios que están haciendo tantos que están ayudando a salvar vidas. Por eso, le doy las gracias, ¡y gracias a Dios por usted! Dios le ama. Dios le bendiga. Y que Dios nos tenga a todos, a toda la familia humana, en esas poderosas manos de amor”.
