Joint Nominating Committee issues important survey
The Episcopal Church Joint Nominating Committee for the Presiding Bishop (JNCPB) has issued a survey and is inviting responses from all Episcopalians.
“In the summer of 2015, the Church will again assume the responsibility for electing the next Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church,” explained Sally Johnson, co-chair of the Committee. “To assist us in that work, the Joint Nominating Committee for the Election of the Presiding Bishop has issued a survey seeking data that will be helpful in our process of developing the profile of the type of leader the Church is seeking.”
Recently, at the request of the Committee, the Secretary of General Convention, the Canon Rev. Michael Barlowe, sent an email to all bishops, deputies, alternate deputies and members of Executive Council informing them of the upcoming survey. That message contained a very brief description of the duties of the Presiding Bishop which may be helpful to anyone who wishes to complete the survey.
The electronic survey on Survey Monkey consists of six substantive questions in areas such as most important personal characteristics of the next Presiding Bishop (life deeply formed by scripture and prayer; skillful manager of people and resources; understand and speak multiple languages), activities (engage in fund raising; head the restructuring of the Church; strengthen our relationships in the Anglican Communion) and areas of focus (articulating a compelling vision for the Church; work to heal divisions in the Church; demonstrate a commitment to interfaith and ecumenical cooperation). Six demographic questions request information on age, race, gender, role in the Church, and years as an Episcopalian.
“The survey is designed to help us all discern some of the characteristics we hope to see in the person we will elect,” noted Johnson. “We want to hear from Episcopalians throughout the church as this will help guide us in our endeavors.”

Deadline for completing the survey is September 20.
The Committee will release the profile for the next Presiding Bishop in December. It expects to open the nomination process on March 1, 2014.

Comité Nominador Conjunto publicó encuesta importante

El Comité Nominador Conjunto de la Iglesia Episcopal para el Obispo Presidente (JNCPB) ha publicado una encuesta e invita a todos los episcopales a que respondan.
“En el verano de 2015, la Iglesia volverá a asumir la responsabilidad para elegir el próximo Obispo Presidente de la Iglesia Episcopal”, explicó Sally Johnson, co-presidente del Comité. “Para ayudarnos en esta labor, el Comité Nominador Conjunto para la Elección del Obispo Presidente ha publicado una encuesta que buscan datos que serán de gran ayuda en nuestro proceso de elaboración sobre el perfil del tipo de líder que está buscando la Iglesia”.
Recientemente, a petición del Comité, el Secretario de la Convención General, Canónigo Rdo. Michael Barlowe, envió un correo electrónico a todos los obispos, diputados, diputados suplentes y miembros del Consejo Ejecutivo para informarles de la próxima encuesta. El mensaje contenía una breve descripción de los deberes del Obispo Presidente, que puede ser útil para cualquier persona que desee completar la encuesta.
La encuesta electrónica Survey Monkey consta de seis preguntas considerables en áreas tales como las características personales más importantes del próximo Obispo Presidente (vida profundamente formada por la escritura y la oración; hábil administrador de personas y recursos, entender y hablar varios idiomas), actividades (participar en la recaudación de fondos, líder de la reestructuración de la Iglesia, fortalecer nuestras relaciones en la Comunión Anglicana) y áreas de interés (la articulación de una visión convincente para la Iglesia, el trabajo para sanar las divisiones en la Iglesia, demostrar un compromiso con la cooperación interreligiosa y ecuménica). Seis preguntas demográficas solicitan información sobre la edad, la raza, el género, el papel de la Iglesia, y los años como episcopal.
“La encuesta está diseñada para ayudarnos a todos a discernir algunas de las características que esperamos ver en la persona que vamos a elegir”, señaló Johnson. “Queremos escuchar a los episcopales de toda la iglesia ya que esto ayudará a guiarnos en nuestros esfuerzos”.

La fecha límite para completar la encuesta es el 20 de septiembre.
La Comisión dará a conocer el perfil del próximo Obispo Presidente en diciembre. Se espera abrir el proceso de nombramiento el 1 de marzo de 2014.
