The Rev. Canon Charles K. Robertson, PhD, Canon to Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori, is the featured speaker on Sunday, June 26 and Sunday, July 3 on “Day 1,” the nationally syndicated weekly ecumenical radio program produced by the Alliance for Christian Media.

In his sermon for June 26, entitled “God Will Provide,” Robertson explores the story of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 22. “Job complained, Abraham negotiated, Jacob wrestled, Jesus pleaded,” he says. “But in the end each one dared to trust, dared to believe that God could indeed be counted on to provide, especially when all seemed most hopeless.”

His sermon for July 3, “Never Enough,” focuses on a teaching of Jesus in Matthew 11. “‘Nothing I do is ever enough!’ Yes, that’s right!” he says. “And the sooner I recognize that truth, the sooner I can embrace the deeper reality that God already knows me more fully than I would like to admit, and still calls me ‘beloved.’”

Each program includes the sermon and a message by Robertson along with interviews conducted by Peter Wallace, executive producer and host.

Robertson is the author of the new book, “A Dangerous Dozen: 12 Christians Who Threatened the Status Quo But Taught Us to Live Like Jesus” (SkyLight Paths Publishing). His other books include “Transforming Stewardship,” “Jesus and Paul: Global Perspectives,” and “Conversations with Scripture: The Acts of the Apostles.”

Robertson has served in a variety of roles in the church, from parish to diocese to churchwide ministries. Before assuming his current position he was Canon to the Ordinary in the Diocese of Arizona. He is a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the General Theological Seminary in New York, and formerly taught at Virginia Theological Seminary. A graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), Robertson earned a master of divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from Durham University in the United Kingdom. He serves on several national boards.
