Holiness, Code of
The name scholars have given to the collection of cultic and moral laws in Lv 17-26. It was apparently one of the sources used by the authors of the priestly source of the Pentateuch. It may have reached its final form in Jerusalem around 650 B.C. It is distinguished by the divine admonition: “You shall be holy to me; for I the Lord am holy” (Lv 20:26).
