Episcopal Church Annual, The

An annual directory of the Episcopal Church. It contains the names and addresses of all parishes and diocesan offices, bishops, priests and deacons, seminaries, publications, conference centers, social agencies, religious orders, and other agencies. It also contains national church statistics and information on all the provinces in the Anglican Communion. Its historical predecessors go back to 1830. The Churchman's Almanack was published from 1830 until 1840. From 1841 until 1892 it was called The Church Almanack, and from 1893 until 1917 it was called the American Church Almanac and Year Book. From 1918 until 1921 the name was the Churchman's Year Book and American Church Almanac. Whittaker's Churchman's Almanac was published from 1854 until 1908. The Living Church Annual began publication in 1882. In 1885 its name was changed to The Living Church Annual and Clergy List Quarterly. In 1890 it was renamed The Living Church Quarterly, and in 1903 it once again became The Living Church Annual. In 1909 The Living Church Annual and Whittaker's Churchman's Almanac merged to create The Living Church Annual and Whittaker's Churchman's Almanac. In 1915 Whittaker's was dropped from the title. This publication continued until 1921. In 1922 The Living Church Annual absorbed The Churchman's Year Book and American Church Almanac. In 1953 The Living Church Annual became The Episcopal Church Annual.
