Albright, Raymond Wolf

(July 16, 1901-July 15, 1965). Church historian and seminary professor. He was a direct descendant of Jacob Albright, founder of the Evangelical Church, now a part of the United Methodist Church. He sustained a lively and internationally recognized scholarly interest in the sectarian movements of the Middle Atlantic states in both the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. He was ordained deacon on May 23, 1953, and priest on Nov. 28, 1953. Albright was William Reed Huntington Professor of Church History (1952-1965) in the Episcopal Theological School, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Of particular significance among his writings are Focus on Infinity: A Life of Phillips Brooks (1961) and A History of the Protestant Episcopal Church (1964).
