Building upon already existing successful initiatives, the Episcopal Church Office of Communication will launch Episcopal Web Radio Network during the summer of 2011.

Episcopal Web Radio will launch with Spanish language programming, called Cadena Episcopal de RadioWeb, and will be available on the Episcopal Church website, www.episcopalchurch.org.

Cadena Episcopal de RadioWeb will broadcast via radio, web radio and podcasts with Spanish programming from the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean. Among the programming will be offerings by well—known TV/radio host and author, the Rev. Alberto Cutie of Miami, Diocese of Southeast Florida.

The seeds for this innovative endeavor were planted during a recent gathering of representatives from the Episcopal Church Center along with Latino communications leaders from the United States, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

“We are excited to partner with our Latino/Latina colleagues in this new initiative,” commented Anne Rudig, Episcopal Church Director of Communication. “This offers a new way for us to tell and share our stories to audiences in this country and internationally.”

The Rev. Canon Anthony Guillén, Episcopal Church Latino/Hispanic Ministries Officer is heading the coordination of the Latino programming.  Regarding the many opportunities for connection and evangelism that this project offers, he explained, “The RadioWeb Network will enable the Episcopalians to support each other with content and production resources by broadcasting quality programming that will share God’s love and showcase the diversity of the Episcopal Church.”

Moira Rauch, Communications Consultant for the Latino Ministry, added, “Episcopal Communicators from all over the world will contribute content and share technical support with the network to produce and distribute programming targeted to local and international audiences.”

In addition to Rudig, Cutié, Guillén and Rauch, other attendees at the Miami planning meeting were:

Mary Brennan, Mission Communication Officer; the Rev .Dr. Hernan Afanador-Kafury, Latino Missioner, Diocese of Alabama; Oscar Rozo, seminarian, Virginia Theological Seminary; Cesar Cardoza, Communications Advisor for Hispanic/Latino Ministries.

From the Diocese of Colombia: the Rev. Rafael Abuchar Curi, Director, Radio Caribe Episcopal; the Rev. Edgar Giraldo-Orozco, Director of Communications.

From the Diocese of  Puerto Rico: Yadira Torres-Rivas, Director of Communications.

The Episcopal Church welcomes all who worship Jesus Christ in 109 dioceses and three regional areas in 16 nations.  The Episcopal Church is a member province of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
