Asiamerica Ministries

Assisting dioceses to start new Asian congregations and strengthen existing ones, and advocates for Asian empowerment at all levels of the church: seminarians, women, youth, clergy, and lay leaders.

Asian American or “Asiamerican” describes both Asian immigrants in the United States as well as Asian Americans born in the United States – Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Japanese, Southeast Asian (Vietnamese, Laotian, Hmong, Burmese), and South Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan). It also describes the relationship of Asians in the United States with the Asian Episcopalians and Asian Anglicans in the global Asian community. The office of Asian American Ministries offers resources on mission work, church revitalization, and racial justice – among and beyond Asian communities in the United States.

In Praise of Lay Ministry

An inspiring message of the Most Rev. Michael B. Curry, presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church, spoken at the graduation ceremony of the Karen Episcopal Ministry Formation (KEMF) on January 16, 2022.

In this message, the PB gives honor to the commitment of catechists and lay pastors and praises the effectiveness of lay ministry. KEMPF is one of the programs of the Episcopal Asiamerica Ministries (EAM). Full video of the Graduation Ceremony is found on Facebook of AsiamericaMinistries/TheEpiscopalChurch.

(CNN) On Friday, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris traveled to Atlanta to confront the racial hatred that is forcing millions of people of Asian descent to live in daily fear. The trip comes on the heels of Tuesday’s carnage — in which a White man in Atlanta killed eight people, including six Asian women. Though the motive has not yet been established, this shooting spree follows a pattern of increasing violence against Asian Americans, particularly women and elders.
