As Episcopalians, our witness in Washington is fundamental to our Christian ministry and mission and to our engagement in the world around us. The Creation account in the book of Genesis calls us to stewardship of all that God has made. In the Baptismal Covenant, we are asked: “Will you strive for justice and peace and respect the dignity of every human being?” The Washington office is committed to fulfilling the promise of that covenant through public policy advocacy.
In Peace and Justice Ministries, it is the responsibility of the Office of Government Relations to give voice to policies that are grounded in our faith and experience and the pillars of Anglicanism – Scripture, tradition and reason. The programs, action and ministry of the Office of Government Relations, including the Episcopal Public Policy Network, are based solely upon resolutions adopted by General Convention, or in the interim, by the Convention’s Executive Council. We believe we must follow the compassion of Jesus, joining love and justice, to serve the world in all the facets available to us - “with God’s help”.
