RSS, an acronym for Really Simple Syndication, is a new way of syndicating content from one site to other websites or individual computers. A web site can allow other sites to publish some of its content by creating an RSS document and registering the document with an RSS publisher.

Using an RSS aggregator (sometimes referred to as a newsreader):
Users are able to have content from any RSS feed delivered directly to their desktop. Aggregators are a hybrid of a Web browser and an e-mail program, allowing Web users to peruse hundreds of information sources. The beauty of an aggregator is that it displays articles from hundreds of websites in one place, so the user doesn't have to pull up the sites individually.
