Stalls
Fixed rows of seats for choir members, clergy, and assistants. These long rows may be located on both sides of the chancel, sanctuary, or choir of cathedrals, chapels of religious houses, or other churches. A book rest may stand in front of each row of the stalls. Arm rests may divide individual seats along the rows. Stalls may be elaborately carved. Some stalls are covered by a canopy. Stalls used by choir members may be known as choir stalls.
