Thrift Store Help for Lakota Families in Nebraska

Dear Jubilee Ministry partners,

I received a request for help today from Fr. Lyle Martin who is currently serving as priest-in-charge at Church of Incarnation in Gregory, SD. He has recently worked with the Jubilee Center at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Blair, NE and is a faithful advocate of ministry among poor and oppressed people. In Blair, the congregation developed a sustainable thrift store program that provided income sufficient to subsidize congregational ministry. Now that he is serving a community of about forty Lakota families in Gregory he would like to try to develop a similar thrift store model to assure that families have access to food and staples necessary for daily living. I am posting this appeal in hopes that those who read this will pause and consider available resources that might make this vision a reality. He is asking for help with fixtures and business staples to run the thrift store. Also, he would like to locate a used vehicle that could provide transportation to and from the thrift store for the families who are served. If you have or know someone who has access to such resources please call Fr. Lyle directly at 605-835-8067. He does not have an e-mail address right now, so feel free to send e-mails to me and I will see to it that the messages are conveyed to him promptly.

Grace and peace,

Chris Johnson
